I am a painter and a graphic designer. I use my years of painting experience to choose colors, compositions and fonts that capture the essence of your sweet pony or horse. Below is a detailed description of how I will design your custom poster. Click on any image to enlarge.
To create a custom poster, I start with a photograph. The best photos to email me are photos that have not been edited or re-sized. The larger (more pixels), the better. Don't worry if you think the photo is washed-out or not the right color. I can paint new colors into the photograph. Above, is a photo of my niece riding her horse, Max. I wanted to surprise her with a high school graduation gift poster that she could hang in her dorm room in the fall.
Above, I added more sky to the photo so the final poster would measure 11" x 17".
Next, I tried out different border colors. In the one above, I matched a border to the color of the jump standards. At this point, the "photograph" is no longer a photo, but a graphic image.
Above, I took the aqua color for the border from a shadow on Max's hindquarters. I started to play around with different text ideas and fonts.
This is the final poster graphic (above) that I sent to the printer. The aqua sky really pops and the fonts and borders remind me of a vintage book cover or movie poster. The French phrase means "sweetness of life" which is exactly what Max and Emma are to each other.
The poster was printed professionally on 12 point glossy poster paper by my printer and shipped in a sturdy photo mailer. The poster measures 11" x 17" and arrives shrink-wrapped with a cardboard backer. Right out of the mailer, it could be displayed on a bedroom wall or tackroom. I decided to purchase a frame for this poster. The 11" x 17" poster fits perfectly into Target's Room Essentials Traditional Gallery Frame - Black (11" x 17"). Above, it is shown framed.
Here it is on our wall. I think it will look great in her dorm room!
